the joy that comes with the sunshine March 16, 2008

the sunshine came at the tail end of a week of grey skies and misty rain. latte could finally have his long walks, i could finally wear my worn-out slippers. and we could hang out by the riverside eating awesome paella and sipping chilled red sangria (why does alcohol look so nice now that i can’t have them?) at tapas trees. i like the ‘three stooges’ there (as blackie calls them most affectionately). i like taking big scoops of mint, milk tea, strawberry, sea salt and caramel ice cream on the steep steps of the river. i like the small intimate group of five, whom i’ve known more than half my life (excluding huddy the newbie). i like laughing at our past, the days in slacks and sanitary-worker-coloured band tees. that night, i was most content to walk beside the huddy and hold his hand and breathe in the river breeze and plan our next good goblin’s dinner and laugh and laugh some more. my love and best friends together – there’s really nothing more to ask for.
